We live in a world where it’s easy to believe we’re constantly falling behind.
Social media shows us milestones, achievements, and perfectly timed success stories. It’s easy to forget that we’re only seeing a small part of someone else’s journey while comparing it to every detail of our own.
Growth rarely happens overnight. More often, it arrives so quietly that we don’t even notice it until one day we look back and realize how much has changed.
Something happened to me yesterday that reminded me of this.
For the first time in a very, very long time, I looked at myself in the mirror and genuinely liked what I saw.
Normally, my eyes go straight to everything I think is wrong. I notice every flaw, every feature I wish were different, every reason to criticize myself. But yesterday was different.
Instead, I saw two big, beautiful eyes and soft brown waves framing my face. For a brief moment, I wasn’t looking for imperfections. I was simply looking at myself.
It may seem like a small thing, but it didn’t feel small to me.
It reminded me that growth isn’t always visible while it’s happening. Sometimes it’s not about changing how we look at all—it’s about changing how we see ourselves.
Maybe blooming doesn’t always mean becoming someone new.
Maybe it means finally seeing the beauty that has been there all along.
This month, I’m choosing to stop measuring my progress against someone else’s timeline. I’m choosing to trust that every season has its purpose and that growth doesn’t need to be rushed to be meaningful.
Flowers don’t compete with one another.
They simply bloom when they’re ready.
And maybe that’s exactly what we should allow ourselves to do, too.
